Fox Searchlight won the bidding war for The Wrestler, Daron Aronofsky's pic that was recently awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Mickey Rourke stars.

Rourke steps into the ring
Mickey Rourke (Sin City, Man on Fire) signed up to play an over-the-hill wrestler who decides to return to the ring one final time in The Wrestler, an indie drama to be directed by Darren Aronofsky. Nicholas Cage was originally approached to star in the film, but ultimately left the project. Aronofsky co-wrote the screenplay with Robert Siegel.
