Rickman Joins Sweeney Todd Cast
Alan Rickman (Die Hard; Harry Potter) has joined the cast of director Tim Burton's musical Sweeney Todd. He will play a judge who imprisons Benjamin Barker (Johnny Depp). Barker returns from prison as Sweeney Tood and exacts gruesom revenge by becoming a barber and teaming up with Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter) to kill people and grind them up into her meat pies. Sacha Baron Cohen also stars, as Todd's rival barber.

Cohen to Co-Star in Sweeney Todd
Still white-hot off the amazing box office success of Borat, Sacha Baron Cohen has now opted to join the cast of Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd. He will play the role of Signor Adolfo Pirelli, a barber who becomes the arch-nemesis of murderous rival Sweeney Todd (Johnny Depp). In the story, Todd teams with Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter) to kill people, grind them up, and use their remains in her delicious meat pies.

Carter Joins Depp in Sweeney Todd
Helena Bonham Carter will join Johnny Depp in director Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd. The joint venture between DreamWorks and Warner Bros. is a production of the Stephen Sondheim musical. Depp will be Benjamin Barker (a.k.a. Sweeney Todd), an evil barber. Along with Mrs. Lovett (Carter), they murder people and dispose of their bodies in meat pies. Angela Lansbury originally played the role of Mrs. Lovett on stage. Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) is rumored to be interested in the role of Signor Adolfo Pirelli, a rival barber.
