IFC gets Pierrepoint
IFC Films has acquired distribution rights to director Adrian Shergold's Pierrepoint, a movie that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival under the title The Last Hangman. The movie was written by Jeff Pope and stars Timothy Spall as Albert Pierrepoint, the most prolific hangman in Britain. He executed 450 people over the course of his career, making him a minor celebrity before his retirement in 1956.
