Director, writer sign up for remake

Rogue Pictures, the specialty arm of Focus Features, has chosen a director and writer for its update of the 1986 horror film The Hitcher. Dave Meyers, who has previously directed music videos for such bands as The Dave Matthews Band, will helm, while Jake Wade Wall will handle the script. The original movie starred Rutger Hauer and C. Thomas Howell in the story of a teen who picks up a hitchhiker from hell - a man who is actually a serial killer who implicates his young driver in his crimes.
