Whitaker Signs for the Point

Actor Forest Whitaker will co-star in director Pete Travis' Vantage Point for Columbia Pictures. The thriller examines an assassination attempt on the U.S. president in Spain. The catch is that it will be told from five different points of view, each taking place over 15 minute segments. Whitaker was recently seen in an acclaimed role on FX television series The Shield.

William Hurt has signed on to star in Vantage Point, as the U.S. president. He joins a cast that already includes Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox. Hurt received acclaim for his recent role in A History of Violence.

Pete Travis has been hired to direct Vantage Point for Columbia Pictures. The Rashomon-style thriller looks at an attempted presidential assassination from five different points of view. Travis was a Toronto Film Festival prize-winner for Omagh.
