Palindromes goes to Wellspring
Despite a Variety report a few weeks ago that Tartan Films had picked up distribution rights for Todd Solondz's Palindromes, that news was apparently a bit premature. The trade magazine is now saying that Tartan was in a three-way bidding war with Wellspring and Roadside Attractions, and that Wellspring has emerged as the actual distributor of the film. The movie is fairly controversial, telling the story of a 12-year-old who runs away from home after becoming determined to get pregnant. Wellspring is planning an April 2005 release.

Tartan gets rights to Palindromes
Tartan Films, an upstart distributor that is looking to release several titles per year in North America, picked up the North American and British distribution rights to the Todd Solondz film Palindromes at the Toronto International Film Festival. Though the Solondz movie had generated quite a bit from distributors stateside, the film was considered to be too dark for mass consumption as it deals with abortion issues centering on a pregnant 12-year-old.
