Revolution Studios looking at original Rent cast

Revolution Studios is working with the original cast of Rent in an effort to lure them to the theatrical adaptation of the Broadway musical. The film's producers are so eager to get Taye Diggs, Jesse Martin, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel to reprise their original roles that they are willing to work around the actors' current schedules to accommodate them. Variety notes that working around such schedules might make next year's release date tough to hit.

Revolution Studios pays the Rent

Revolution Studios committed to finance the theatrical adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical Rent. The studio had been working on such a deal for several months in the aftermath of Warner Bros. detaching itself from the production. The film will be directed by Chris Columbus, who has been working on the screenplay for the past several months. Since it's so close to being ready to start, the studio can fast-track production for an intended Holiday 2005 release.
