Magnolia gets new Lives
Magnolia Pictures has acquired domestic distribution rights to director Rodrigo Garcia's Nine Lives. The movie debuted earlier this year at Sundance, and boasts a strong ensemble cast that includes Glenn Close, Amy Brenneman, Dakota Fanning, Holly Hunter, Joe Mantegna, Ian McShane, Mary Kay Place, Aidan Quinn, Stephen Dillane and Robin Wright Penn. The movie is a female-centric tale about relationships, told in vignettes. Magnolia will release the film in September.

Garcia has Nine Lives
Director Rodrigo Garcia has signed a big-name cast for his latest film, the indie drama Nine Lives, which is currently shooting in Los Angeles. The story is made up of a series of vignettes that offer a glance at the lives of nine women, played by such luminaries as Kathy Baker, Amy Brenneman, Glenn Close, Holly Hunter, Sissy Spacek, Robin Wright Penn, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Elpidia Carrillo and Amanda Seyfriend. Other cast members include Dakota Fanning, Jason Isaacs, Joe Mantegna, Ian McShane, Molly Parker, Mary Kay Place, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Aidan Quinn, Stephen Dillane, William Fichtner and Miguel Sandoval.
