Sony Pictures Classics goes to Burials
  
Sony Pictures Classics has acquired distribution rights to The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Tommy Lee Jones's directorial debut. Jones also stars in the film, which is a contemporary Texas western.

Tommy Lee Jones directs, stars in Three Burials
  
Tommy Lee Jones, who previously directed himself in the 1995 film The Good Old Boys, will again direct and star in an independent film from a screenplay by 21 Grams scribe Guillermo Arriaga. The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. The story revolves around a ranchhand named Pete Perkins (Jones), who tries to keep a promise to a friend that has died by making sure the man is buried in his Mexico hometown. The Alamo's Julia Cedillo will also be featured in the title role.
Production will get underway in September.
