Cooper goes for Jarhead
Chris Cooper has joined the cast of Sam Mendes' Jarhead. He'll portray the commander of an elite Marine sniper unit in the big screen adaptation of Anthony Swofford's Gulf War memoir. Other cast members include Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Foxx and Peter Sarsgaard. The film is currently shooting.

Sarsgaard is a Jarhead
Peter Sarsgaard will star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Foxx in Sam Mendes' Jarhead, which will be distributed by Universal. An adaptation of Anthony Swofford's Gulf War memoir, Sarsgaard will play a Marine sniper who befriends and mentors Gyllenhaal's character.

Mendes adds cast for Jarhead
Director Sam Mendes is working to get Jamie Foxx added to the cast of his upcoming Jarhead. Foxx would join Jake Gyllenhaal for the Universal project.
William Broyles adapted the Anthony Swofford book with a unique Marine perspective on the Gulf War. Gyllenhaal would play a grunt Marine, while Foxx would play his squad commander. Other actors in talks to join the cast include Lucas Black (Friday Night Lights) Evan Jones, Ivan Fenyo, Laz Alonso, Jacob Vargas and Brian Geraghty.
