ThinkFilm to distribute Kerry doc

Indie company ThinkFilm has secured domestic distribution rights to director George Butler's documentary Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry, which is loosely based on the Doug Brinkley book Tour of Duty. The film includes footage and photos that have been taken by Butler throughout his 35-year friendship with Kerry. Butler previously directed the documentary Pumping Iron, which chronicled the emergence of a young Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1970. The Kerry film will center on Kerry's experiences as a soldier in Vietnam and his anti-war activism that followed. The film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be in theaters in limited release on October 1st.
