Million Dollar Baby has awards hopes
Warner Bros. has announced that director Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby will receive a December 15th release in L.A., Chicago, New York and Toronto so that it can be considered for awards consideration this year. Originally planned as a 2005 release, the studio tested the movie as a potential awards contender and results were positive. The film stars Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman as old boxers who run a gym in L.A. They're approached by a woman (Hilary Swank) who has dreams of becoming a boxer herself. The tale follows the platonic relationship that develops between Eastwood's character and his protégé.

Anthony Mackie gets Rope Burns
Anthony Mackie, who is currently starring in Spike Lee's lastest joint She Hate Me, will also be featured in Clint Eastwood's next directorial effort, the boxing flick Rope Burns. The film centers around a female fighter (Hilary Swank) and her trainer as they determine to make her a star. Mackie will co-star as a rising young boxer.
