Affleck joins Jesse James

Casey Affleck is set to star as Robert Ford in the Warner Bros. film The Assassination of Jesse James. The movie will begin shooting in two weeks, and features Brad Pitt as Jesse James. The movie is adapted from the novel by Robert Hansen, and shows the progress of Ford as he starts out as a youngster joining the James gang. Although he initially idolized the "Fastest Gun in the West", he eventually began to resent him. He decided he would build up his reputation by gunning James down, but he then shot him in the back, and became known instead as the most famous coward in the west. Andrew Dominik is directing the period piece.
