Jolie goes for Good Shepherd

Angelina Jolie is set to co-star alongside Matt Damon in The Good Shepherd, a film to be directed by Robert De Niro and that is preparing to go into production in March. Universal will distribute the Eric Roth-scripted history of the CIA as seen through the viewpoint of a career agent. His marriage is pulled apart by the stress of the job. Jolie will play his wife.

Damon is Good

Matt Damon has signed on to take the role originally planned for Leonardo DiCaprio in Robert De Niro's pet project The Good Shepherd. Despite the fact that Initial Entertainment Group dropped out of financing the project, Universal is still slated to distribute the film, which is hoping to make its March start. The film tells the history of the CIA as seen through the eyes of a career agent. De Niro is producing, directing and starring in the film.

Financier pulls out of De Niro film

Graham King's Initial Entertainment has dropped out from financing The Good Shepherd, a film that was set to star Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, with De Niro directing. The film was in pre-production and was expected to be the next project for both DiCaprio and De Niro. Domestic distribution would be handled by Universal. The budget is already north of $110 million, and Universal remains committed to the project; however, production will not start unless new financing can be found.
