Eyal is a homophobic Israeli intelligence agent for Mossad. He's been assigned to track down an elderly ex-Nazi officer and war criminal named Alfred Himmelman with the purpose of eliminating him. To that end, Eyal pretends to be a tourist guide and befriends Himmelman's grandson, Axel, who is in Israel to visit his sister and talk her into returning to Germany for their father's birthday party.

The two new friends go out for a tour of Israel, and Eyal finds his rigid beliefs being challenged by Axel's frank progressiveness. Their friendship continues to grow until Eyal learns that Axel is gay, at which point he leaves, unable to handle the stress it puts on his own belief system.

Nonetheless, Eyal has a task that he is expected to complete, and in order to finish his mission to assassinate Himmelman, must go to Germany. He meets Axel again and manages to secure an invitation to the father's birthday party. It is here where many secrets will be revealed.

Walk on Water is an Israeli film production that will receive a small-scale release in North America. Director Eytan Fox had some reasonable success with a previous film, Yossi and Jagger, and will look to gain additional fans with his latest project. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
