From the quirky Griffin Dunne (most recently seen sporting a bad Russian accent on Alias) comes this indie-minded film about a 15-year-old boy named Finn Earl (Hearts in Atlantis' Anton Yelchin) who has grown weary of his strange, bohemian way of life with his drug-addicted mother, Liz (Academy Award/Golden Globe nominee Diane Lane). He finds an opportunity to escape that world when she is hired as a personal masseuse by an elderly millionaire named Ogden C. Osborne. Finn soon becomes close friends with Bryce and Maya, Osborne's grandchildren, and begins a passionate relationship with the girl despite his mother's misgivings about the situation.

Set in 1978, the movie will examine a time when society was somewhat freer with regards to sexuality and drug usage, and Finn soon finds himself immersed in that exotic new social set. His new friends have plenty of disposable income for such forbidden fruits. Finn soon learns that this unfamiliar world has unexpected danger, both for himself and his mother.

Along with Lane and Yelchin, cast members in the film include Chris Evans (The Perfect Score, Saved!), who will play Bryce, and Kristen Stewart (Panic Room, Catch That Kid), who handles the role of Maya, Finn's love interest. At this point, it appears that distributor Lions Gate has pinned some awards hopes on the film, though thus far the studio has had rough luck on that front in years past. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
