Kate Hudson was Hollywood's It Girl of the 2000-2001 class as Goldie's little girl stole hearts with her winsome but wounded Penny Lane character in Almost Famous. Since then, she has appeared in the good (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days), the bad (Le Divorce) and the ugly (Alex & Emma). This is indicative of the proverbial one step forward, two steps back behavior that rising actors often face in the difficult-to-navigate studio system. Now, the recent mother is ready to work on her first thriller.

Skeleton Key tells the story of a New Orleans caretaker of the elderly played by Hudson. The young woman finds herself faced with the unexplainable when she begins to repeatedly encounter supernatural phenomenon. While this might sound like every other recent Hollywood thriller, the script is an offering of Ehren Kruger, who adapted The Ring. That's more than enough reason to be intrigued by Skeleton Key.
