Could the Hilary Duff Express be slowing down? After her incredible successes in 2003 (two hit movies and a multi-platinum CD), 2004 was less kind to the starlet. Neither A Cinderella Story nor Raise your voice exactly set the box office barn on fire. The teen now looks to return to her roots (?!), as The Perfect Man will re-unite the one-time number one recording artist (and boy, aren't those unexpected words to be saying about Duff?) with Mark Rosman, a frequent director of her old Disney Channel show, Lizzie McGuire.

Presumably improving upon the Simpsons storyline where Bart created a fictional man for his lonely teacher, Miss Krabappel, The Perfect Man has an eerily similar (but legally different) concept. Duff will play the daughter of a doting single mother who has grown a bit too smothering for Junior's tastes.

In order to fill the void in Mommy's life, the Artist Formerly Known As Lizzie McGuire proceeds to try to set her up with a slew of men. When all of these attempts fail, the teeny bopper is left with no choice but to create a man worthy of her mother's attention. Presumably, this won't involve any Dr. Frankenstein-esque laboratory surgery.

Fittingly, the movie is being produced by the elder Duff, Susan. This is appropriate because she developed something of a Papa Culkin reputation with Disney due to her constant meddling in...err, managing her daughter's negotiations with the company. Of course, considering how well Hilary has come out of it, Susan is one of the few people who can brag that they proved Disney wrong about a child/teen actor. (David Mumpower/BOP)
