Aardman Animations had incredible success with their first feature film, Chicken Run. They are also the creators of the popular Wallace and Gromit series. This third feature film will be their version of the classic fable from Aesop, The Tortoise and the Hare. Some of the voice talent has already been cast, including Bob Hoskins, Orlando Jones, and Brenda Blethyn.

The plot of the film follows the storyline of the classic tale. The race is between two valiant competitors. First is the tortoise, who sets an even pace and keeps moving steadily toward the finish line. The other is the hare, who sets a fast pace and then when he sees he's way ahead of the tortoise, takes his time and fools around instead of concentrating on his goal.

This film was originally announced as Aardman's second feature film with a summer 2002 release, but was pushed back to summer 2003 because of production delays. There has been a recent development that this film will be pushed back even farther to summer 2005, making it Aardman's third movie, after their Wallace and Gromit feature film.
