The full title for this third film in director Godfrey Reggio's QATSI trilogy is Naqoyqatsi: War Life. Although there are few details available regarding the film, it will likely follow the style of the two previous QATSI films, Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi, and feature various images of life on this planet set to music by Philip Glass, intertwined with Hopi chanting.

Naqoyqatsi is a Hopi word, the English translation of which appears after the colon in the films full title. In the QATSI tradition, the images follow a particular theme; in Naqoyqatsi, the theme is technology, and the filmmaker takes the viewpoint that technology is waging war on the so-called "natural" life. The images will focus on the ways in which Reggio feels technology has altered our standard of living and become almost a life unto itself; in his view, this world of technology is destroying the natural world, and Naqoyqatsi will bring this worldview to the fore.

Naqoyqatsi is currently scheduled for a limited release in October. It's highly unlikely the film will expand beyond the art-house circuit. (Stephanie Star Smith/BOP)
