If you enjoy quirky, little-seen films and you happen to live in the Big Apple or have a trip to the city planned for the weekend of October 5th, you might want to try working a visit to The Den of Cin at Two Boots into your schedule to catch The Strange Case of Señor Computer.

A movie that was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2000 Slamdance International Film Festival, Señor Computer is most often compared to Darren Aronofsky's Pi, despite the fact that the former was the first to go into production. First-time writer/director Tom Sawyer spent his inheritance and used his credit cards to translate this story of a dysfunctional relationship between a robot and its creator to the screen.

Rick Ziegler stars as a nerdy scientist who builds a robot to help him conquer death. After the researcher moves on to other projects, the robot's budding intelligence grows, as it becomes close friends with the housekeeper and learns how to womanize. When the lonely scientist begs the robot to teach him about women, the tale takes a Cyrano de Bergerac-style twist.

Since The Strange Case of Señor Computer is scheduled to be released on video later this fall, I wouldn't anticipate any expansion beyond the New York City showing or any impact on the box office.
