Rome has been the world's pre-eminent super power for 800 years, but by 476 AD, Rome is dying. Under threat from every border and beset by internal strife and infighting, the known world is in chaos. Set in these harsh and dire times, a boy is set to become Caesar. But on the day of his ascension, he is betrayed by his savage Gothic allies who storm and sack Rome and take the boy prisoner.

Exiled to the island fortress of Capri, the boy must live by his wits and find the last legion loyal to him while also finding the mythical sword of Julius Caesar, said to belong to the next rightful ruler of Rome. A small band of warriors fight to save him and are Rome’s last best hope for survival.

The Last Legion features a strong cast of Colin Firth as Aurelius, the boy king's protector; Ben Kingsley as Ambrosinus, his mystic mentor; Alexander Siddig (Kingdom of Heaven and Syriana); Kevin McKidd who is making himself a nice character of playing guys who carry swords and look mean (Rome, Kingdom of Heaven, The Virgin Queen) and...Aishwarya Rai.

Rai makes her big screen Hollywood debut playing Mira, a mysterious, black-clad, Byzantine warrior. Words can not describe how happy I am to type that last sentence as many of us have been waiting patiently for the Bollywood superstar, mega bombshell, Aishwarya Rai, to make her Hollywood debut. We are officially jealous of Colin Firth over the romantic scenes he had with Ms. Rai (and our female contingent is equally jealous of Rai). (D. James Ruccio/BOP)
