Walt Disney's cartoon Plane Crazy, the first Mickey Mouse cartoon, is released.

1958:

MGM releases Gigi. The film goes on to win all nine of the Oscars for which it is nominated, a distinction shared by 1987's The Last Emperor.

1987:

Columbia unleashes the spectacular flop Ishtar, starring Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman.

1998:

Old Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra, dies of heart & kidney disease, bladder cancer and senility in Los Angeles.
