1999:

Film Critic Gene Siskel dies from complications stemming from brain surgery. His death ended the long-running partnership and friendly (sometimes not so) rivalry with Roger Ebert. Siskel is later replaced on Ebert's show by fellow Chicago film critic Richard Roeper.
