Director William Desmond Taylor is found murdered in his Hollywood bungalow. The case is never solved. The discovery of Taylor's body caused quite a stir, as detectives uncovered illicit material, including pornographic photos at his residence.

1969:

Legendary horror star Boris Karloff succumbs to emphysema in Midhurst, Sussex, England.

1978:

Roman Polanski arrives in Paris, having fled the United States after his conviction for sexual relations with a minor.
