1953:
Walt Disney's cartoon Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom is released. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, it is the first Disney cartoon produced in Cinemascope and the first Oscar-winning cartoon for Disney in ten years.
