Walt Disney's cartoon Der Fuehrer's Face, starring Donald Duck, is released. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. The last Disney cartoon to win an Oscar until 1953, it ended an amazing run of ten Academy Awards in a 12-year period.
1960:
Margaret Sullavan (The Good Fairy, The Shop Around the Corner) dies of a barbituate overdose in New Haven, Connecticut.
1970:
Boogie Nights director Paul Thomas Anderson is born in Studio City, California.
2003:
Sandra Oh and Alexander Payne wed. Oh co-stars in Payne's 2004 Sideways. The two divorce in 2005, shortly after Payne won the Best Adapted Screenplay for Sideways.
