Tom Cruise has found his leading lady for Mission: Impossible 3 and Keanu Reeves will not be happy. Carrie-Ann Moss, who played Trinity in The Matrix, has signed on to star opposite Cruise in the third installment of the franchise. The film is tentatively set for a Summer 2005 release and will be helmed by Narc director Joe Carnahan. Moss will find this action film a change of pace since the training for the film will last less than 18 months. Run, Tom! I’ll hold back Nicole!





Hakuna matata First it was Legacy Animation Studios and now it is Project Firefly. You are probably not familiar with the latter but might be familiar with the former. Both are new animation studios that have been started by ex-Disney animators and will focus on developing and producing traditional, hand-drawn cell animated feature length pictures. Both studios are set up in Florida with Legacy located in Winter Garden and Firefly located in Universal Studios in Orlando. The five founders of Project Firefly announced that they had mortgaged their homes in order to fund the opening of the studio. Where do we send our donations?
In what has to go down as the most shocking news of the day, Miramax boss Harvey Weinstein is to be awarded a Commander Of The British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth III. The film chief was awarded the honor in recognition for his contribution to the British film industry. Weinstein, who runs Miramax alongside brother Bob, will be presented in a ceremony in the next few months. No punch line can ever do this set up justice. Yo mama said, it is good to be natural Lenny Kravitz will be the latest musician to make the transition from studio to big screen when he stars in a film titled Barbecues and Bar Mitzvahs. Kravitz, who is the son of a Jewish father and an African-American mother, says the project is akin to Woody Allen films and will examine a man caught between two cultures, a concept he can strongly identifies with due to his background. It is not confirmed at this time if Kravitz’s next project will be Overrated Poseur Hollywood Baby Musician.
Struggling MGM is reportedly being courted for purchase by Sony, the company that owns Sony Pictures which include the sub-studios Columbia, Screen Gems and Sony Classics. The deal would reportedly be worth $5 billion dollars and is reportedly in a late and very serious phase of negotiations. While MGM has struggled over the last few years, it does own one major franchise, that being James Bond. We just can’t wait for that Spider-Man James Bond cross-over.
