BOP Daily News

The spirit of BOP News lives on in
This is So Last Week,
our pop culture week-in-review,
presented in a pleasing quiz form.

Bland pop princess Celine Dion apparently has quite the temper on her. The French-Canadian chanteuse was reportedly furious after performing at the recent Grammy Awards ceremony when a technical snafu rendered a few seconds of her song inaudible to the audience. And here we thought someone was employing the much-publicized five-second delay to good purpose. Sacré bleu! No one prevents me from being heard!

Although it’s a toss-up who has the better-looking navel. Keira Knightley, currently red-hot following her successful turn in the summer blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean, has reportedly beat out singer-turned-reality show star Jessica Simpson for the lead in the big-screen version of I Dream of Jeannie. According to insiders, given Knightley’s current in-demand status, she was “simply the number one choice for the role.” Not to mention the fact that Knightley has the brains to know the difference between tuna and chicken.
In a move that stunned some Hollywood insiders, Catherine Zeta-Jones has fired her longtime William Morris agent, reportedly because hubby Michael Douglas advised her to. The Oscar winner, who switched to rival Creative Artists last week, is also purportedly frustrated that Nicole Kidman, another William Morris client, gets first refusal on all the choice scripts, roles that Zeta-Jones - or perhaps more precisely, her husband - feels should go to her. The reports sound like another case of a husband mucking about with his more high-profile wife’s career, which was lent more credence with news that Zeta-Jones just landed a plum part in the upcoming Ocean’s Eleven sequel. Yeah, good move, Mikey; sounds like your wifey’s agent really wasn’t working for her at all. “I fired my agent, honey, and look what it did for *my* career.”
Well, at least there’s less of her to bare now. Merry widow Anna Nicole Smith’s reality show has officially bit the dust. The E! series, which was critically panned but initially received high ratings, has been on hiatus for some time, so word of the show being canceled was hardly a surprise. So little a surprise, in fact, that Smith has already signed on for another show with E!, with a debut date just weeks away. Titled Anna Nicole Bares It All, the train wreck-waiting-to-happen part two will follow Smith as she prepares for her first catwalk job in many years, an appearance during New York’s Fashion Week. Given some of the antics from Anna Nicole Smith’s first show and some of the topics she freely discussed before cameras, having “bares it all” in the title fills us with bone-chilling terror.
