The spirit of BOP News lives on in
This is So Last Week,
our pop culture week-in-review,
presented in a pleasing quiz form.

Before BOP News went on hiatus for a month, there was a lot of good news swirling around. Spring romances were in full bloom, leading a summer of hot, nasty celebrity sex. Alas, it’s the fall now, so the industry’s lust is abating. Why, Jude Law hasn’t even slept with any hot nannies in the past couple of weeks. Where are we going with this? Well, the rumors are true. Renee Zellweger’s storybook romance with hunky country music icon Kenny Chesney is over. The couple had a whirlwind romance which led to surprise nuptials in the Virgin Islands back in May. After only four months of matrimonial bliss, those crazy kids have already cordially invited one another to go to Hell. Zellweger has filed a motion to declare their marriage annulled, arguing that her cowboy-hat-clad fella perpetrated a fraud. Semi-confirmed rumor has it that Zellweger wanted children whereas Chesney was stubbornly determined to wear condoms. If Chesney had watched Jerry Maguire and seen how important the kid was to her, this entire nonsense could have been avoided. Is it a problem if we don't have children? Hell yes, it's a problem.

How could any man leave that? Speaking of soon-to-be-divorced accomplished Hollywood actresses…well, not accomplished but an actress…well, let’s just say that Beverly Hills 90210 co-star Tori Spelling has also filed for divorce. The silver-spooned daughter of television production icon Aaron Spelling lasted 14 months in her marriage to something called Charlie Shanian. This guy, apparently some sort of actor/writer, who has a recurring part on 10-8: Officers on Duty, has moved out of their joint residency. We expect him to move along to some other sugar momma in the next couple of months. Until then, Spelling and Shanian are left with but one positive thought. Their marriage lasted ten months longer than Renee Zellweger’s did.
One actor who is not getting divorced, at least as far as we know, is BOP fave Ryan Reynolds. Until he marries then divorces Alanis Morrissette, we have nothing else to talk about other than either A) Blade: Trinity or B) his recently announced role in Chaos Theory. Since we are only in step seven of the 12-step recovery program for Blade: Trinity viewers/victims, BOP has decided to focus on the future. Reynolds, a marvelously talented actor and genuinely hysterical man, has been cast as a cuckold in the upcoming Warner Independent Pictures release. Chaos Theory tells the story of a man who finds out he’s infertile. This is confusing since he is under the assumption that he fathered a daughter who lives with him. After a period of time, the non-father comes to realize that it was in fact his best friend that fathered the girl he has raised as a daughter. Liv Tyler, Steven Tyler, and Todd Rundgren all have gone on record as saying this story is implausible. Ask me if it's ironic one more time, Alanis. Just ask me.
