American Beauty Mena Suvari has experienced another personal setback. The aspiring starlet appeared to be well on her way to becoming a Hollywood player after her successes in the Sam Mendes film as well as American Pie. A string of shaky projects including The Musketeer, Loser and Beauty Shop reinforced what we already knew from watching her play on Celebrity Poker Showdown. Her decision making is oftentimes shaky. A perfect example was when the then-21-year-old married a man 17 years her elder. Now comes word from her publicist that Suvari's five year marriage to cinematographer Robert Brinkmann has ended with her filing for divorce yesterday. The cynics at BOP argue that is about five times as long as anyone reasonably expected them to remain wed. Per the terms of the prenuptial agreement, Brinkmann gets 50% of her forehead. Oh, the tragedy of Tyra Banks Syndrome

I'm James Brown, B-word! The woes of Undercover Brother co-star Dave Chappelle continue. First, Comedy Central announced that the highly anticipated third season of the comedian's show, cleverly entitled Chappelle's Show, had been delayed indefinitely. Now, words comes down the pike about what the problem might have been. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Comedy Central's franchise player has checked himself into a mental health facility in South Africa. Even Comedy Central was surprised by this revelation, one that the magazine reports is indicative of a serious condition rather than a brief stay for exhaustion. BOP is not inclined to mock the mental breakdown of a talent we respect. Instead, we are left to shake our heads in disappointment that the ongoing career meltdown of Conspiracy Brother is real rather than the central plot of Undercover Brother 2.
There has been almost a calendar year absence since a Nicholas Sparks book had been adapted into a theatrical release. Have no fear, though. Stone Village has acquired rights to another of his novels in order to fill the void. The author of The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, and Message in a Bottle has received a seven figure sum in exchange for the rights to the Sparks novel True Believer. Also, they also have first right of refusal on the follow-up, At First Sight. The book tells the story of a professional skeptic who falls in love with the granddaughter of a psychic. Seriously, that's the concept. This guy has sold millions of books and just made over a million yesterday for the movie adaptation, and all he had to come up with was unbeliever falls for believer. Even that lousy Mandy Moore movie of his had more thought put into it than that. This guy is a bigger fraud than Dr. Phil and the Wendy's finger-chili lady combined. We'll forgive Sparks for his overly sappy books as they brought Rachel McAdams to our attention
