The spirit of BOP News lives on in
This is So Last Week,
our pop culture week-in-review,
presented in a pleasing quiz form.

Hoping to follow in the footsteps of Sophia Coppola, the critically acclaimed filmmaker who just happens to be the daughter Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola, Domenica Cameron-Scorsese will begin directing her first full-length feature film this winter. Cameron-Scorsese, daughter of acclaimed director Martin Scorsese, will begin work on Saturn’s Return to New York, a film based on a novel by Sara Gran. The story focuses on a New Yorker who seeks to change her life. Robert De Niro is in early negotiations for the lead role. Hopefully, Domenica has her mother's eye brows

This is the picture you get when you have a story about Blockbuster Home video giants Blockbuster Video and Hollywood Video will reportedly be testing a $0.99 rental rate on one-night rentals in selected franchise stores. The program will likely be used to test consumers’ willingness to rent more films at a lower cost and will likely not be rolled out across all markets. This announcement follows some less-than-comforting reports of sluggish business at rental chains. With DVD purchasing on high-speed growth and Video-on-demand on the way, rental revenues have taken a hit and Blockbuster, especially, has had to refocus its efforts to take advantage of the DVD phenomenon and compensate for the slowing rate of rentals. Of course, what wasn’t reported is that the late fees have been increased to $230 dollars per night.
Disney president Robert Iger revealed that the Mouse House and Pixar, the studio behind giant hits such as Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc, are not currently in talks to renew the contract between the two companies. Disney has so far handled the distribution of all of the Pixar-produced films and both studios have mutually benefited from their relationship. With Pixar looking for a bigger piece of the pie, the relationship has been in jeopardy for almost 18 months now. Disney is releasing the Pixar-produced The Incredibles this November as well as Cars in November of 2005; the latter film very well could be the last collaboration between the studios. When BOP tried to get a quote from Jeffrey Katzenberg, all we got was an evil, maniacal laugh. Yer stoodio is ina wee bit o' trouble, ye say?

"I don't *feel* any different. Do I look any different?"
"You still look like an ass to me! "
Previous edition's quote: Spaceballs
