It has been announced that an Oliver Stone DVD collection is scheduled for release on October 19th, almost three weeks before the release of Stone’s latest film, Alexander. The DVD set will include 14, yes 14 (14!!!) discs, including the films Wall Street, Talk Radio, Natural Born Killers, Born on the Fourth of July, The Doors, Heaven and Earth, Nixon, U-Turn (featuring a J.Lo nude scene), Looking for Fidel, Persona Non Grata, special-edition versions of Platoon and Salvador, and the director’s cut versions of JFK and Any Given Sunday. The collection will also include two extra discs featuring a documentary on the controversial filmmaker and a sneak peek at Alexander. Wow, a J.Lo nude scene. The DVD set will apparently not include a comb.

Have your people call my people; we'll do lunch. The Passion of the Christ DVD has certainly inspired plenty of passion among consumers. The Mel Gibson feature-length film debuted on August 31st and sold an ungodly 4.1 million units in its first day alone. Interestingly, it is being reported that consumers are buying almost two - 1.8 to be exact - DVDs per purchase, which is quite a high rate. The tremendous performance follows a domestic theatre take of over $370 million for the independent film that has proved to be a veritable cash cow for Gibson. Of course, it’s all going to go horribly wrong when Gibson signs Salman Rushdie to write the sequel.
Production on Aeon Flux, Charlize Theron’s first big project after her Oscar win, has been halted temporarily so that Theron can recuperate from an injury sustained on-set. The studio did not reveal the specifics of the injury, but production will be shut down for a few weeks while the Oscar winner recovers. Flux is based on an animated MTV show that sees the title character fight evil forces in a dark future setting. These situations are not new to films, as Halle Berry, another Oscar winner, broke her arm on the set of Gothika, which was also the first movie she filmed after her big win. I know what you’re thinking, but Meryl Streep has an alibi for both incidents. She might be rich and famous, but at least she's not good-looking.
