The MPAA struck a major blow against movie pirates when one of its German affiliates, the German Federation Against Copyright Theft (GVU), busted an illegal film and software server based in Frankfurt. GVU announced that the server, which housed more than 200 properties and was available to net surfers world wide, was responsible for 70% of the pirated films on the Internet. Now that the film piracy crisis has been defeated, Anacondas is set to open to $90 million. All is right with the world again. How the MPAA punished the people responsible

Blonde hair, good looks, two-dimensional…we’re thinking Paul Walker is a lock Stephen Sommers, the man guilty of unleashing Van Helsing and The Mummy franchise on the public, has acquired the rights to old-school comic book character Flash Gordon. Sommers will likely write and direct the feature while Top Cow will create a new series of comic books starring the intergalactic hero. No official title has been given to the film but we’ll get behind the title Flash Gordon: Another Two Hours of Your Life Wasted by Stephen Sommers.
Being only moderately successful has certainly not stopped The Rock from working in Hollywood. After his last two films, The Rundown and Walking Tall, performed moderately at the box office - the former’s performance being an injustice - The Rock continues to be signed as the lead on significant Hollywood projects. The latest such project is Gridiron Gang, a film based on a true story of a group of teenagers at a Los Angeles Youth probation center who gain confidence and self-respect when a counselor makes them join a football team. The film will be based on a documentary by the same name. First, The Rock will be seen in Be Cool, the follow up to Get Shorty, as well as the action films Instant Karma and Spy Hunter. In related news, The Rock is in no hurry to get an Oscar. There’s something about The Rock that draws you to The Rock
Bruce is looking for bigger fish to fry than Nemo and Dory...like, say, an ogre. Way back before it was trendy to feud with Michael Eisner, "that little midget" Jeffrey Katzenburg set the standard. A decade ago, the DreamWorks co-founder developed a blood feud with the Disney overlord that still breathes today. The latest offensive attack is the repeat of a 2001 maneuver. As was the case with the original, Shrek 2 will be released on DVD the same day as a Pixar title. Last time, it was Monsters, Inc. vs. Shrek and now it's The Incredibles vs. Shrek 2. Since Pixar is now also feuding with Disney, BOP politely suggests they hook up with DreamWorks and really stick it to Eisner by making Monsters Inc. vs. Shrek and The Incredibles vs. Shrek their next two projects.
