This is So Last Week,
our pop culture week-in-review,
presented in a pleasing quiz form.

MGM has finally hired a female lead to star opposite Paul Walker in Into The Blue. Jessica Alba has been signed to play Walker’s better half in this thriller about a treasure-hunting couple who get into trouble after finding a large amount of cocaine. The project will film in the Cayman Islands and Florida next month. It is true; a movie star’s life is just pure hell. Acting so bad, it even sunk a James Cameron production (and not in a good way)

Watch me rope when a' them there camels Penelope Cruz is in talks to co-star opposite Matthew McConaughey in Sahara, a project based on a 1992 novel by Clive Cussler. The novel is one of the Dirk Pitt series of novels and features Pitt, a treasure-hunting explorer, and his wisecracking sidekick, to be portrayed in the film by the underrated Steve Zahn. You know, this might be worth watching if only to see a good ol’ southern cowboy named Dirk travel across the world. Now that just has to be funny, right?
We were eagerly awaiting the release of The Wendell Baker Story, the latest effort from the Wilson brothers, but now we just cannot wait. Joining brothers Luke and Owen Wilson, as well as the breath-taking Eva Mendes, is the Undercover Brother himself, Eddie Griffin. Written by Luke Wilson and co-directed by Luke and Andrew Wilson, the film will tell the story of an ex-con gone straight who gets a job at a retirement home. He then proceeds to help the residents of the home to escape the tyranny of the evil head nurse, as played by Owen, while the residents help him win the love of his life back. An early draft of the script allegedly had Griffin playing a stand-up comedian brought in by the ex-con to cheer up the residents. His plan goes awry when the senior citizens fail to understand what “Yo, what’s up?” means. He doesn't really need to say anything, does he?
