The spirit of BOP News lives on in
This is So Last Week,
our pop culture week-in-review,
presented in a pleasing quiz form.

Steve Carrell’s career is really picking up steam. The former The Daily Show star impressed casting agents so much with his supporting roles in Bruce Almighty and Anchorman that he has now been cast as Maxwell Smart in a big-screen adaptation of the '60s spy-parody television show Get Smart. This announcement by Warner Bros. comes straight on the heels of the news that Carrell will play the lead role in the comedy Furry Vengeance. Get Smart aired from 1965 to 1970 and starred Don Adams as a bumbling secret agent working for CONTROL, a white-hat organization fighting the evil villains of the world who all worked for a group called KAOS. The television series was co-created by Mel Brooks, who will be experiencing a sort of renaissance in the next 18 months as another project of his, The Producers, is also receiving a big-screen adaptation. Get Smart should receive some stiff competition when it is released next year from the latest Pink Panther film starring Steve Martin. Oh Lord, it’s unbelievable that a Steve Carrell project has a better outlook than a Steve Martin project. Missed it by that much.

Ironically, they hired a guy who plays a plastic surgeon during his day job Fox is apparently not happy with the wee bit of star power that its Fantastic Four project has drawn so they have decided to go all out when casting the villain of the piece, Doctor Doom. Yes, hold on to your seats, Fox has announced that the man playing Doctor Doom is…Julian McMahon? What the hell? A quick Google on this actor shows that he is one of the lead actors on Nip/Tuck, a show with a strong core following but no major audience. We repeat, what the hell? This guy’s not even related to Vince McMahon! In unrelated news, Slater from Saved by the Bell has been cast as Iron Man.
BOP’s favorite kick-ass, real life, possibly bisexual hottie Kristanna Loken has been cast as a half-human/half-vampire hellbent on taking revenge against her father in the big-screen adaptation of the popular video game Bloodrayne. The Terminator 3 star has been cast by director Uwe Boll - whose name means that he is often mistaken for a prostate disease - who liked the former model’s looks and intensity in T3, a film in which she got to beat the living hell out the current California governor. Before Loken received the official offer sheet, the studio had to clear up a mistake and rescind the offer sheet sent to Maria Shriver. She really needs to get into the news more often.

""She's not that kind of girl, Booger." "Why? Does she have a penis?""
