Bryan Singer likes men in tight fitting clothing, which could or could not be the reason behind rumors that surfaced over the weekend about the X-Men helmer’s attachment to the oft-troubled Superman production. The young director, who exploded on the Hollywood scene with his The Usual Suspects and then made a name for himself as a more-than-competent action film director with both X-Men films, had reportedly been signed to direct the Warner Bros. film, the same studio that was producing his next directorial project Logan’s Run. Variety has confirmed this morning that the rumors were true and that a battle was being waged between Fox and the WB for Singer’s services (on Logan’s Run). Warner Bros. won out by moving Singer off of Logan’s Run and onto Superman. This means that Singer will not direct X-Men 3 even though he might still be heavily involved in the project. Singer will have a new take on Superman, very different from the one Warner Bros. has been trying to get off the ground for the last 3 years. The film will shoot in Australia with a reported budget in the neighborhood of $200 million. Fox executives this morning were reportedly admitted into Hollywood ER with “three knife-like claw wounds” in the back. Could the X-Men star be too far behind?

I asked for a stack of money this big…only 200 times bigger And as one director jumps from one major project to the next, another director completely drops out of another one. Joe Carnahan, the director of Narc who has been working on Mission: Impossible 3 for the last 2 and a half months, has now dropped out of the project due to “creative differences”. Paramount this surprise announcement only a few days after announcing that the likely blockbuster was moving from an early May release to a late June release. With production set to begin in August, the studio will scramble to find a suitable replacement for Carnahan. The chances of the replacment being Bryan Singer is only 50/50.
Bad news for CSI fans; the hit show has parted ways with two of their main actors, Jorja Fox and George Eads who played Sara Sidle and Nick Stokes respectively. The two had been asking for a renegotiation of their 7-year contracts before the season had started and when neither actor reported for the first day of shooting late last week, the studio fired both actors without announcing a replacement. In related news, Reiko Aylesworth, who is best known for her role as Michelle on Fox’s hit show 24, is joining the cast of CSI this for the upcoming season. The casting of Aylesworth is not related to the dismissal of Eads and Fox. 24 will be seeing some major casting changes of its own as Fox has revealed that the only main actor that will be returning from last year is Kiefer Sutherland, who also serves as Executive Producer on the show. You’d think that David Caruso, who stars in CSI: Miami, could have given Eads and Fox some career advice. She’s a lot sexier than you think…trust us
