Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow are teaming up to co-finance the eighth sequel in the Police Academy franchise. It's been 10 years since Police Academy: Mission to Moscow was released. Warners-based Jerry Weintraub is on board to produce, says the trade, and series creator Paul Maslansky is executive producing with Village Roadshow's Bruce Berman. The project is out to writers, with the exact direction of the newest installment yet to be determined. If the film is half as funny as this announcement, the WB has hit a gold mine. We just ruined your weekend

They cast who to play us? The newest superhero train wreck of a film has announced the casting of 3 of its main 4 leads. 20th Century Fox has announced that The Shield’s Michael Chiklis will play Ben Grimm/The Thing, Ioan Gruffudd will portray Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic and Chris Evans will bring to life Johnny Storm/the Human Torch in the upcoming big screen adaptation of The Fantastic Four. To be directed by Tim Story, director of Barbershop, and based on a Marvel Comics comic book, The Fantastic Four will tell the story of 4 cosmonauts who are endowed with super powers when they are bombarded by cosmic rays. The film is set for release on July 1st, 2005 in direct conflict with Mission: Impossible 3. Rumored to round off the cast is Rachel MacAdams as Sue Richards/The Invisible Woman. Invisible is exactly how the audience for this film will be categorized.
Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg will collaborate on Flags of our Fathers: Heroes of Iwa Jima, a film based on the James Bradley book Flags of our Fathers. Eastwood will direct and Spielberg will produce the project, which will retell the story of the Battle of Iwa Jima, one of the fiercest battles of World War II. The legacy of the battle lives on in the unforgettable WWII image of 6 American soldiers erecting a flag on Iwa Jima. The script is being written by Paul Haggis and will go into production in 2005. We’ll go out on a limb here and say that this film has a chance of being better than Pearl Harbor. Just a small chance. Eastwood was 43 when the actual battle occured
