presented in a pleasing quiz form.

One of Hollywood’s all-time greatest actors passed away over the weekend at the age of 80 years old. Marlon Brando, who was best known for his roles as Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather, died on Saturday and leaves behind a legacy of great on-screen performances as well as an unforgettable life of eccentricity and zest. The multi-Oscar winner broke new grounds with his acting but went on to see his strange life be turned into so much tabloid fodder and late night talk show punch line. An icon of Hollywood is gone and he cannot be replaced. Certainly a contender...a heavyweight contender, for sure

The Fantastic Four's resident flamer, Johnny Storm Mission: Impossible 3 has been pushed back from its originally planned May 6th, 2005 release date to a June 29th, 2005 release date. Hoping to mimic the success of this weekend’s Spider-Man 2, the Tom Cruise franchise will look to win back some of its audience after its predecessor left a sour taste in many movie goers’ mouths. This move puts M:I 3 in direct competition with Fantastic Four, the film based on the Marvel comic book. Both features will begin filming next week with Fantastic Four set to announce its full cast sometime this week. The tag line for both projects is set to be “Flame On!”
Speaking of Spider-Man 2, its June 30th opening day box office take of $40.5 million is being disputed by rival studios as not truly being the biggest opening day ever. Columbia, the studio distributing the film, pegged the Wednesday number as the biggest opening day in history while other studios were quick to point out that last year’s The Matrix Reloaded had an opening day number of $42.5 million. Sony has a legit claim to the honor as The Matrix Reloaded saw $5 million of it’s first day take come from preview screenings that happened as early as 18 hours before the film was officially released. Spider-Man 2 on the other hand opened at midnight of its opening day. Regardless of who’s right and who’s wrong, Columbia can be happy with the fact that its film will be remembered in 3 years.
