The next installment in the Harry Potter franchise has begun filming as it’s predecessor has just crossed the $200 million mark at the domestic box office. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, a big screen adaptation of the fourth book in the Harry Potter series, has begun filming in England under Mike Newell’s direction. A substantially larger volume than its three predecessors, Goblet of Fire marks the beginning of Harry, Ron and Hermione’s first trip into true adulthood. Goblet of Fire is arguably the best of the series so far, though it is important to note that the final two books have yet to be written. With her writing moving at a snail’s pace, it seems that author J.K. Rowlings will be writing a novelization of the last two chapters as opposed to having two film adaptations of the books be made. Hilton is rebuilding the studio with funds from her weekly allowance. An accident on the set of the film House of Wax was the cause of a major fire that burned down a studio at Movie World on Australia’s Gold Coast. A huge candle on the set of a bookshop is believed to have ignited other props which dominoed into a huge blaze that forced the evacuation of the entire studio and caused a driving hazard for miles around. Starring Elisha Cuthbert and Paris Hilton, the horror film was shooting some final scenes at the Aussie studio before the accident happened. While it hasn’t been confirmed if this accident will cause a delay in the release of the film but if it does, we thank the Gold Coast for making a sacrifice and temporarily saving the world from the release of a Paris Hilton movie.
A record 20,000 people who attended the fifth annual Maui Film Festival honored Zach Braff's "Garden State" with the award for best feature film. Braff, who plays Dr. John "J.D." Dorian on the NBC series "Scrubs," accepted the award as the five-day festival concluded over the weekend. "Garden State," scheduled for release in theaters July 30, is Braff's directorial debut. He also wrote the screenplay. Braff stars as a man who returns home for his mother's funeral and breaks free of a lifetime of medication-induced passivity, striking up a relationship with a quirky young woman played by Natalie Portman. In the interest of maintaining consistency with Scrubs, the films is scheduled to be pulled from theatres on August 14th, after it has established itself as a strong indie performer with a growing word-of-mouth fan base, and will be released on September 23rd. The third release of the film is scheduled for December 11th. Banana hammock!
