The spirit of BOP News lives on in
This is So Last Week,
our pop culture week-in-review,
presented in a pleasing quiz form.

Filming on the remake of The Stepford Wives has reportedly been halted because the director, Frank Oz, has taken ill. The stars of the film are cooling their heels as the film sits in limbo, waiting for Oz's return. Yeah, like we’d make a joke here. The dude’s freaking Yoda. Not literally, egghead

Please, no more Jeff Goldblum nudity Apparently we haven't seen enough versions of The Fly, the 1958 science-fiction/horror film gorily remade in 1986 by David Cronenberg, because there's another version coming from Fox Searchlight and first-time writer/director Todd Lincoln. Fox Searchlight reportedly decided to move ahead with The Fly after seeing the success garnered by 28 Days Later, which became a sleeper hit this summer. Lincoln has gone on record as saying his version of The Fly will be a "total re-imagining", which certainly inspires a new level of horror in us. He will also reportedly explore the issue of why the mutated scientist/fly never flew in the first two versions. Well, maybe because a flying man is just too damn silly.
Gwyneth Paltrow has decided to turn the tables on the paparazzi who follow her constantly and start filming them. Gwyneth will take a video camera in hand and film the photogs filming her, intending to show the world how the paparazzi make their living. Paltrow was quoted as saying, "I didn't sign up to be stopped and made to feel like a prisoner in my own home." Ooooh, that’ll show ‘em. In unrelated news, LeBron James will now be photographing Annie Leibowitz as she plays Frisbee in the park. He's 18 years-old as much as he is Irish
Okay, maybe we'd pay for an hour Jennifer Tilly and Rachel Roberts have signed on to star in Deluxe Combo Platter, an independent feature to be directed by Left Behind director Vic Sarin. Tilly will play Alma, a small town woman who yearns for the town hunk; Tilly is then completely ignored by the men of the small town when Linda Avery, played by Roberts, a sultry big-city corporate exec moves to town and drives the men insane. Of course, the twist is that Linda has the hots for her new lady friend and this is where the hilarity ensues. If ever you could pay money to see the final 15 minutes of a movie, this is the finale you should be able to do it with.
David Spade's Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star topped the box office this past weekend. Are our feet getting cold or is it the ground? It's Billy Ray Minus
Disappointment number 1: It's a gay bar Bush lead man Gavin Rossdale and Djimon Hounsou have signed on to co-star in Constantine for director Francis Lawrence. Keanu Reeves plays the title role in this Warner Bros. production of the DC Comics comic book titled Hellblazer. Reeves will play John Constantine, a strange man with eerie powers who fights evil for his own mysterious purpose. Also starring the in film are Rachel Weisz as Angela, a tough cop and the romantic lead, as well as Tilda Swinton who will play the Constantine’s nemesis. If only Constantine could punish Swinton for The Deep End…
The Amityville Horror is next up in Hollywood’s list of remakes. The 1979 horror classic, based on the 1977 book of the same name, will be remade by a group of small studios. The haunted house story, based on real life accounts that happened between 1974 and 1976, tells the story of a family scared out of their wits by a house that was home to a mass murder a few months prior to their moving in. The twist in the new film will be that no one was actually murdered in the house, just that its previous tennants were Nick and Jessica. You don't htink it's scary now? Give it a year

"Wow, what a beaitful home honey, we should be ver..."
