Tom Hanks may have finally found a director for his hush-hush project Boone’s Lick. Based on a period novel by Larry McMurtry, the western would see Hanks play a man escorting his brother’s wife to the fort where her husband lives only to find himself falling in love with her during the journey. The director in question might be Swedish-born Lasse Holstrom who is most famous for The Cider House Rules and Chocolat. While it is very early to be a definite, Julia-Anne Moore is reportedly attached to star as the object of Hanks’ affection. Sources would not confirm if the film would change its title to Slowest. Movie. Ever. Of course, that title has already been taken by this little gem here called Gerry

If you find this erotic...well, get in line. Buffy is back…sort of. An animated version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be shopped around to potential distributors in the near-future as creator Joss Whedon tries to get his Slayerverse back on the air. The one catch though is that the show will be missing the voice talent of Sarah Michelle Gellar who played Buffy in the live-action television series. Returning, however, will be original series stars Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Stewart Head and Nicholas Brendon. Buffy will be voiced by Giselle Loren who voiced Buffy in various video game releases. Seriously, can Gellar really be that busy?
And if you doubted today was a slow news day, we bring you this…Van Wilder star Ryan Reynolds, got down on one knee and asked fellow Canadian Alanis Morisette to marry him. The 27 year-old Reynolds flew to Ottawa to ask Morisette’s parents permission to propose to their daughter. The 30-year old Morisette, whose album Jagged Little Pill sold more than 20 million copies world-wide, accepted but the two have not set a wedding date yet. Oh no, does a solid, long-term relationship mean that Alanis’ music is going to suck now? Too late. Such a slow news day
