In addition to being loads of fun, apparently acting can also heal a broken heart. At least, that's what Halle Berry told Oprah recently when she appeared on the latter's talk show. Berry claimed that her role in Catwoman helped her to deal with the pain of her failed marriage to singer Eric Benet. After learning that rumors regarding her husband's infidelity were true, Berry said she used her upcoming film role to help her make some "tough life decisions". Maybe that explains the costume. Yeah, we still can't believe it, either.

Yo, Avril; this is a *real* rebel. Soon-to-be-trivia-answer Avril Lavigne has apparently upset the suits at MTV by flipping the audience the bird whilst live on-air. The one-hit wonder was being interviewed on the MTV half-hour commercial Total Request Live when she was asked what she thought of the media. Her response caused the censors to pull the plug on her performance instantly. A spokesperson for the network pointed out the rather obvious fact that such a gesture was "inappropriate", adding that it was also "disrespectful of the audience". Lavigne's people, meanwhile, tried to pass the thing off as a joke. See what the gods of music do to little twits who don't bother to learn how to pronounce the name of a music legend?
Michael Moore isn't the only documentarian having trouble with his latest film. The production companies behind the current big documentary success story, Super Size Me, are accusing MTV of refusing to allow them to buy commercial time on the network. According to spokespeople for Roadside Attractions and Samuel Goldwyn Films, network execs refused the ads because they were "disparaging to fast-food restaurants", which just happen to be mega-ad buyers for the network. Nope; no conflict of interest there. MTV has shot back that it was the film companies that didn't like the deal they were offered. MTV needn't have worried; it's not like their target audience pays attention to commercials about movies that don't blow things up real good anyway. Hey, remember when MTV used to play music? Yeah; neither do we.
