Johnny Depp was reportedly shocked when he saw the final cut of his latest
film, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, because he didn't realize he had such a
large part in the movie. Depp was under the impression his role as a corrupt
CIA agent in Robert Rodriguez' third installment of the El Mariachi saga was
more of a cameo, even though he was on the set for nine days of the shooting
schedule. Depp also apparently had the same reaction when he saw Fear and
Loathing in Las Vegas, but that was mostly due to being in character during
filming.

Now that Miramax has decided to release Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Kill
Bill in two parts, the first this October and the second next February, the
possibility has opened up that Tarantino will have a shot at Oscar nods in
two consecutive years. Which likely means two separate years of Tarantino
being insufferable and Harvey Weinstein's Oscar machine shifting into
overdrive. Thanks a lot, Harve.

According to sources, Star Wars: Episode III is nearing completion, with
the crucial fight sequence between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker due
to be shot in the coming weeks. Supposedly fans are chomping at the bit to
see the showdown which leads to Anakin's transformation into Darth Vader. We're not quite sure how that will work, but
we're certain that once Lucas is finished with the sequence, no one else on
Earth will understand it, either.

Young Adam, the Ewan McGregor film which recently opened the Edinburgh Film
Festival, is being readied for release in North America. The film, which
follows the story of a barge worker who finds a woman's corpse floating in a
canal, reportedly has some very steamy scenes in which McGregor shows off
his birthday suit. Rumors that one scene involves McGregor offering to show
a lady how to use his "light saber" were unconfirmed at press time.
