Remember what I said last week about July offering quality over box office quantity? Yeah, forget that.
3-D Is Alive and Well
Tom Houseman, in his own words, "cracks his knuckles in the style of a hacker from a bad ‘90s movie and gets prepared to do some enlightening" about the arbitrary rush to write off 3-D.
This is So Last Week: 7/23/10-7/29/10

Be. More. Entertaining.)
A-List: Worst Sequels Ever
Nothing says the doldrums of summer like a blast of negativity, right?
Review: The Kids Are All Right
The Kids Are All Right tells an endearing but mostly traditional story about a family going through a crisis. It’s dramatic, funny and well acted, but it’s not as inspired as you might think...
Are You With Us?
When the first shot of a movie is of a nude Nicole Kidman in nothing but high heels, you know you are in for a surreal, wild ride that only legendary director Stanley Kubrick could deliver.
How Well Do You Know: Seinfeld: The Secretary
In "The Secretary," George hires a secretary, only to say something to her he later regrets. Meanwhile, Jerry realizes his dry cleaner is wearing his clothes and Elaine suspects that the mirrors at a particular store make customers appear thinner. How well do you know Seinfeld: The Secretary?
How Well Do You Know: Celebrity Eyes
You see them staring back at you from the pages of a tabloid, winking at you on the movie screen, hypnotizing you into buying products you don't need, glaring at you as restraining order paperwork is filed. Most celebrities have distinctive faces, but can you ID the star just by their eyes? How well do you know celebrity eyes?

Christopher Nolan Discussion
A couple of weeks after its release, Inception continues to be the movie story of the moment.
How Well Do You Know: Blazing Saddles
Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddle, starring Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder,
Madeline Kahn, and Harvey Korman was released in 1974. One of Brooks'
funniest films, it satirizes both the Western genre of films and
racial prejudices.
Not a film for the politically correct, Blazing Saddles is full of
racial epithets and naughty language (a smattering of which you will
find in this quiz), all in service to ridiculing racists attitudes.
Couch it all in Brooks' trademark style of humor and you have a
classic bit of comedy with a message.
Movie Review: Salt
At first glance, Salt is another one of those movies where a wrongly accused man (or woman) must prove his (or her) innocence via a series of elaborate chase scenes and intense detective work.
How to Spend $20
This week: Chow Yun-fat emulates Mr. Miyagi, Forest Whitaker steals peoples’ organs and Ralph Fiennes goes from Voldemort to a god.
How Well Do You Know: Legally Blonde
A 2001 comedy about a bubbly blonde sorority queen who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law, Legally Blonde was a surprise hit, grossing $96M domestically and $141M worldwide. It led to a sequel, a Broadway musical and a straight-to-dvd spin-off, and also continued the hit streak of star Reese Witherspoon. You may know it's impossible to use a half-loop stitching on low-viscosity rayon because it would snag the fabric, and that orange is SO not the new pink, but how well do you know Legally Blonde?

How Well Do You Know: Angelina Jolie Trivia
An wildly eccentric young actress has emerged as one of Hollywood's most bankable stars. A star of blockbuster films who crusades on behalf of the downtrodden.

I Was Robbed
Once upon a time, Christian Bale was not worried about yelling at the director of photography.
Make an Argument
Two of my favorite dramas on television ended things last year with game changing episodes.
How Well Do You Know: Same Role, Different Actor
It has been said that the only way to truly award an acting Oscar is to have all the actors play the same part. Of course, there’s never been a year when more than one actor played the same part in different films, but Hollywood does have a long history of featuring the same character in multiple films over the span of time. You might think you know every actor in every role in every movie ever made, but how well do you know Same Role/Different Actor?
Monday Morning Quarterback
Inception is the big news of the weekend. There are spoilers for Inception in Part II of the discussion. Be warned.
How to Spend $20
This week: Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning take a break from vampires, Jeffrey Dean Morgan fires a gun and Chicago finds reason to celebrate.
Viking Night
One of the pitfalls of writing about the types of films I do is that I usually find myself commenting on material that’s been previously picked over like a breakfast buffet at noon.
Watching Instantly
What do Zombieland and Harold and Maude have in common? Absolutely nothing. Obviously.
How Well Do You Know: Enchanted
The story of a Disney princess and her struggle to find and hold onto true love after being sent from her fairy tale (animated) land to the harsh, complicated live-action world, Enchanted paid homage to past Disney films and characters while still making its story and heroine one of a kind. It was also the beginning of Disney's return to hand-drawn animation after years of computer animated films. You may wonder why James Marsden seems to be stuck in roles where he never gets the girl, but how well do you know Enchanted?
TiVoPlex

Review: Despicable Me
What Despicable Me lacks in humor it makes up with heart.
How Well Do You Know: Support Your Local Sheriff/Support Your Local Gunfighter
In 1969 Support Your Local Sheriff was released. It featured James
Garner, Jack Elam and Harry Morgan, among others. Support Your Local
Gunfighter was released two years later with much the same cast, but
with all of them playing different roles. The films share a very
basic premise, Garner’s character rides into town, meets the town
character played by Jack Elam, and is hired by Harry Morgan’s
character to solve some local problem. Hilarity ensues.
Because the films share a good deal in common with one another, your
job is to answer the following 25 questions and discern the
similarities and differences between the two films. Good luck.

How Well Do You Know: Grease
Good girl Sandy Olsson and cool guy Danny Zuko meet and fall in love during a summer vacation, but encounter problems once Sandy unknowingly transfers to Danny's high school. Grease introduced America to Olivia Newton-John, continued John Travolta's rise in Hollywood, and spawned numerous musical hits, a sequel, and more recently, a sing-a-long. Review: Eclipse
Let’s face it: the Twilight movie series, on a whole, isn’t very good. I can’t speak for the books, but the movies are slow, unimaginative and sort of half-baked as far as quality goes.
Make an Argument
With Emmy nominations being unveiled on Thursday morning, I thought it a good idea to analyze some of the best programs on television and decide which ones have a shot at scoring at least a nomination...
