This week in "wait, what?" news, we have a new film at number one which is actually an old film. In fact, it's a film most people have probably stopped thinking about too much: Terminator Genisys. This weekend marked the end of the blackout period in China, a time when Hollywood films are kicked out of theaters in favor of homegrown product. Genisys was the first film to take advantage of that change, and was rewarded with $27.4 million in a single day, good enough to top a pretty lethargic frame. That gives the (maybe?) last outing for Arnie as his signature character a new international total of $264 million. It could be close to $350 million by the time it finishes in China, which brings up the previously outlandish (and, lets face it, still pretty unlikely) possibility that Jai Courtney might soon bore moviegoers as Kyle Reese all over again.

In second place is Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, which continues to demonstrate that the only thing international audiences love more than Tom Cruise is Tom Cruise playing Ethan Hunt. The fifth film in the M:I series, chronologically (and third in terms of quality), earned $25.2 million and has a new total of $280.8 million. Globally, it's steadily creeping up on the half billion mark.

Third is Bride Wars, a Chinese remake of the Kate Hudson-Anne Hathaway vehicle which demonstrates that Hollywood doesn't have the monopoly on making things no one asked for. It earned a very solid $23.6 million.

Fantastic Four is a not-great fourth this weekend. The Josh Trank vehicle has struggled to catch fire with audiences abroad, even as it has faded from view at home, adding $16.2 million from 66 territories. It has now earned $80.8 million internationally.

In fifth, Go Away Mr Tumor continues to do well with Chinese audiences despite no longer being one of the only games in town, earning $13 million for a new total of $65.5 million.

Inside Out is sixth with $10.7 million, which gives the Disney Pixar film a new total of $347.5 million, surpassing its domestic total of $342.4 million. With a number of big territories left, including a possible, but currently unconfirmed, run in China, Disney execs will have plenty of reasons to keep feeling joyous in the weeks and months ahead.

Seventh belongs to Veteran, the South Korean hit, which continues to perform strongly. It added $10.5 million and has a total to date of $60 million.

Minions is down in eighth, but it's still edging closer to glory. Sandra Bullock's most successful film ever (though she may not have been the main reason for its success) added $8.8 million, bringing its overseas total to $669.4 million, and leaving its global total at $989.3 million. It should become the fourth film of 2015 to earn a billion dollars worldwide very shortly.

Hitman: Agent 47 earned $8.5 million in its debut frame. It's still early days for the reboot to a franchise nobody cared much for in the first place, but it's still not a particularly strong start for Fox's second crack at this particular series.

Rounding out the top ten this week is The Man From U.N.C.L.E., the long-gestating adaptation of a TV show which may have gestated just a little too long for anyone to really care about it. The Guy Ritchie film added $8 million for a running total of $26 million, almost equalling its domestic tally.
