2010 Oscars Fashion: Worst Dressed

Truth be told, I think Zoe Saldana's lavender Givenchy gown was stunning from the waist up. The sequined top looked fantastic on her. As the gown got closer to the floor, though, it looked more and more like a cross between a pom-pom and a throw rug I owned when I was nine-years-old. This seemed like two totally different dresses to me. Had this dressed stayed simpler, it would have looked so much nicer on her.

Suzy Amis' dress was notable in that it was designed by a student at Michigan State University, who won a contest to design a dress for Amis that was environmentally friendly, with no waste. Unfortunately, the dress was not the main attraction, as Amis looked like Skeletor. Suzy, please, eat something.

Nicole Richie apparently decided to wear a designer Snuggie (in this case, Reem Acra) to the Oscars this year. Yikes.

Okay, Charlize, you have breasts in there somewhere. You want people to look at them. We get it. I think it would have been more subtle to have flashing lights or a neon sign sewn onto the dress that said "look HERE ---------> <------------".

Vera Farmiga is making a lot of best-dressed lists with her ruffled Marchesa gown, but I thought the ruffles were just distracting. That dress looked like it was trying to swallow her whole. The ruffles weren't necessarily a bad choice for her, but maybe in this case, less is more.

Sarah Jessica Parker is always noted for her "fashion statements," but I'm not sure that's a good thing when the statement seems to be "don't wear me." While the soft yellow color was a nice choice, the embellished neckline on the Chanel Couture gown did not fit with the rest of the dress, and the odd neck strap-thingie looked like it was going to choke her.

Diane Kruger's white and black Chanel gown was just a hot mess. It looked like she was trying to keep the dress on by cinching it with a fabric version of twist ties. What a horrible choice of a gown for someone who usually looks so amazing on the red carpet.
