For the first time this season, we finally saw a different side to Renny's game play. Up to this week, she basically acted as a stand-in maternal figure for a few of the HouseGuests (mainly Keesha), while at the same time never playing Big Brother with all that much seriousness.

Then the beauty salon owner from New Orleans earned Head of Household for the week, knowing at that moment that she'd have to kick up her game a notch if she wanted to stay in the house for a few more weeks. "Good guys finish last, right?" Renny asked. "I'm going to have to start getting mean."

Renny then acted out that mentality by going against the wishes of her allies – Keesha, Michelle, Memphis and Dan – by nominating April and Jerry for eviction, instead of April and Ollie. Ollie, of course, was able to convince the woman that there were bigger fish to fry in the Big Brother house, and Renny decidedly followed that order.

That's when the criticisms began storming out of the mouths of the HouseGuests. Even from Keesha, who until now has always been on Renny's side.

So much for "getting mean," eh? It's likely that all Renny really did is paint a huge target on her back.

The comeback

Host Julie Chen asked Memphis an interesting question during the live eviction episode on Thursday. Following brief interviews with a few of the remaining HouseGuests, she turned to the big man and simply asked him which former HouseGuest he would most like to see back in the game.

Wait, what?

With just seconds to respond to Julie's seemingly innocent question, Memphis finally said he would most likely want to see Brian enter back into the mix. Yes Brian, that guy who thought he was running the whole damn show way back in week one, and then unexpectedly got sent home during the game's first eviction when the other HouseGuests figured out what the man was scheming.

The practice of bringing back a former HouseGuest has certainly been done a few times in Big Brother's past. And given the fact that producers this year have mainly played it safe by making the show's tenth edition a more "back to basics" season, the surprise twist could be just what the show needs to bring in a bit of spice near the end of Big Brother's summer run.

If I had it my way, I too would choose Brian, as he has a better chance of shaking up the Big Brother house over any other former HouseGuest. Angie and Steven would simply be boring, Jessie and Libra would be annoying and April was just kicked out, leading me to believe her chances are slim to practically zilch.

Final thoughts

Because Thursday's live episode ended on an as-yet-unfinished endurance challenge for the house's next HoH, we for the second time this season won't know which HouseGuest will be calling the shots until the winner is revealed on Sunday.
Whoever it is, Renny has to be thinking that she could very well be put up on the Chopping Block for playing against her allies' wishes. Even Jerry, who is no friend of Renny's, would probably nominate the woman as well since she elected to put him up, and not Ollie, for no apparent reason.
