I'm gonna ask you one more time - where did you put my nose???
New movies are released into theaters every weekend. How do you decide which movie to watch? Some people could pick a movie based on the title (surprisingly, Billy Elliot, Donnie Darko, Deuce Bigalow, and Rocky Balboa all have different genres ). Some people watch trailers (misleading), some people listen to their friends (friends can be idiots), and some people only go to the movies if their Hollywood crush is on the screen (I'm actually not sure the next time I'll go to the cinema...when is your next movie coming out, Catherine Zeta-Jones?).

More likely than not, each weekend there is a movie that you have never heard of in the theaters. I'll save you the hassle of researching every movie, by comparing the new releases for each weekend in this column. Then, I'll tell you which movie to watch.

For the weekend of November 19th , the new movies in wide release are Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and The Next Three Days.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 The Next Three Days WINNER (1 point per category)
Clearest TitleAhhhhhhh! (insert angelic cherub singing here) This title suggests another Harry Potter film! I actually don't care. All I can hear are chubby little baby angels singing right now. It's here, it's here! Which means Hermione is here!!!!! Point for HPATDHP1!
Best Genre
and Rating		Adventure/Fantasy-

Rated PG-13 for some sequences of intense action violence, frightening images, and brief sensuality. 		Crime/Drama

Rated PG-13 for violence, drug material, language, some sexuality and thematic elements. 		About time we got an adventure-fantasy-young-boy-wizard drama up in here. And Hermione Granger! Point.
Cleverest Tagline
(out of 5 stars)		"Nowhere is safe"

Also, "The hunt begins" and "It all ends here." Pretty foreboding.

3/5 stars 		"Lose who you are to save what you love"

I had to read this a couple times to figure it out, but 'lose who you are' is intense, I like it.

4/5 stars 		Please forgive me, Emma Watson, but I think the point has to go to The Next Three Days for this round.
Best Part of TrailerEpic. Gave me goosebumps. Seemed like a realistic break-your-wife-out-of-prison trailer. Also, it was good. But The Next Three Days lacked one certain actress. Point for HPATDHP1.
Coolest Lead ActorDaniel Radcliffe is Harry Potter and did a naked horse play on Broadway. Russell Crowe from Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, and L.A. Confidential. I don't know what to do! Gladiator or Harry Potter? Where's Ms. Granger when you need her? I guess the gents will split the point.
Best CastEmma Watson (Hermoine), Rupert Grint (Ron), Bonny Wright (Ginny), Tom Felton (Drako), Ralph Fiennes (The English Patient), Helena Bonham Carter (Sweeney Todd), Alan Rickman (Love Actually), Julie Walters (Billy Elliot), Bill Nighy (Pirates), Timothy Spall (Enchanted), and Miranda Richardson (Phantom of the Opera). Elizabeth Banks (Zach and Miri), and Ty Simpkins (Revolutionary Road). Liam Neeson (Shindler's List), Daniel Stern (Home Alone), and Brian Dennehy (First Blood). Where's Dame Maggie Smith/Prof. McGonagall? Despite that omission, Hermione and Harry Potter gets the point for one of the best casts of the year.
Best Street Cred
For the Production		Director David Yates has also directed Harry Potter Half Blood Prince and Order of the Phoenix. Director Paul Haggis has also directed Crash, and he wrote Quantom of Solace, Million Dollar Baby, and Walker Texas Ranger. Didn't see the Chuck Norris TV show coming- Point for Paul Haggis. Reminds me, Who can slam a revolving door? Hermione Granger.


So out of a maximum of 7 points per movie, Harry Potter scores 4 and 1/2 points and The Next Three Days scores 2 and 1/2 points.

You may interpret this column for your own movie preferences. For example, if you've never heard of Harry Potter, you'll want to see The Next Three Days. However, if you are still on the fence, please read the following conclusions from the scientific data gathered in this column.

Conclusion 1: On paper, Harry Potter is the movie to watch this weekend.
Conclusion 2: I've never read the books and may be the only one who doesn't know what's going to happen in the final movie. That's why I'm even more excited to see these movies in the theaters.
Conclusion 3: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 just entered the 2010 Top 5 chart...twice! Third place for Best Cast of 2010 (sorry to knock you off the chart, Red) and second place for Best Trailer of 2010 (sorry to knock you off the chart, Despicable Me).
