New movies are released into theaters every weekend. How do you decide which movie to watch? Some people could pick a movie based on the title (surprisingly, Elizabeth, Emma, Carrie, and Heathers all have different genres ). Some people watch trailers (misleading), some people listen to their friends (friends can be idiots), and some people only go to the movies if their Hollywood crush is on the screen (Dear Ms. Emma Stone: thank you for starring in Easy A).

More likely than not, each weekend there is a movie that you have never heard of in the theaters. I'll save you the hassle of researching every movie, by comparing the new releases for each weekend in this column. Then, I'll tell you which movie to watch.

For the weekend of November 5th , the movies in wide release are Due Date, Megamind, and For Colored Girls.

Due Date Megamind For Colored Girls WINNER (1 point per category)
Clearest TitleI don't know for sure, but this movie is probably going to be for females. I don't know for sure, but this movie is probably going to be for males. Well, this one is easy, it is probably going to be for colored girls. For Colored Girls wins the point for clearest title.
Best Genre
and Rating
Comedy

Rated R for language, drug use, and sexual content.
Animation

Rated PG for action and some language.
Drama

Rated R for some disturbing violence including a rape, sexual content, and language.
So maybe Due Date is for the guys. Megamind seems to be a movie for guys and girls, so it'll get the point this round.
Cleverest Tagline
(out of 5 stars)
"Get that dog out of my face or I'll rip it in half."

Don't know what the tagline has to do with the plot, but a perfect tagline for a comedy.

4/5 stars
"A superhero movie with a mind of its own."

Aiight.

2/5stars
"Many voices. One poem."

I think this has to do with the play the movie was based on.

3/5
Due Date easily wins this round. It also had other taglines, including, "Dad...you were like a father to me."
Best Part of TrailerSeems like The Hangover. Half of the trailer I found really funny. Will Ferrell and Brad Pitt are the voices... that's about it. If a Tyler Perry drama is your kind of movie, the trailer worked very well. I ended up watching Due Date's trailer a second time, so that pretty much guarantees a win this round.
Coolest Lead ActorRobert Downey Jr. from Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes. Will Ferrell from Saturday Night Live, Elf, and Anchorman. Janet Jackson from pop culture and The Nutty Professor 2. Unlike everyone else, I haven't fully jumped on the Downey bandwagon, so he'll split the point with Will and Janet.
Best CastZach Galifianakis (Hangover), Michelle Monaghan (Mission Impossible 3), Jamie Foxx (Ray), and Charlie Sheen (TMZ.com) Voices of Brad Pitt (Fight Club), Tina Fey (SNL), Jonah Hill (Knocked Up), David Cross (Arrested Development), and Ben Stiller (Meet the Parents) Thandie Newton (Mission Impossible 2), Phylicia Rashad (Cosby Show), Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act), Loretta Devine (Boston Public), and singer Macy Gray Phylicia is cooler than Brad and Zach combined. For Colored Girls represent with the best cast.
Best Street Cred
For the Production
Director Todd Phillips has also directed The Hangover, Starsky & Hutch, and Old School. Director Tom McGrath has also directed Madagascar 1 and 2. Director Tyler Perry has also directed a slew of movies including the Madea films. Tyler Perry is hard to beat, but I think Todd Phillips will win the point for the "classics" Old School and The Hangover.

So out of a maximum of 7 points per movie, Due Date scores 3 and 1/3 points, For Colored Girls scores 2 and 1/3 points, and Megamind scores 1 and 1/3 points.

You may interpret this column for your own movie preferences. For example, if you watched Madea goes to Jail, you'll want to see For Colored Girls. However, if you are still on the fence, please read the following conclusions from the scientific data gathered in this column.

Conclusion 1: On paper, Due Date is the movie to watch this weekend.
Conclusion 2: I'm not ashamed to admit it: Sister Act was a good movie. I'm just saying.
Conclusion 3: Robert Downey Jr. and Will Ferrell shake up the Top 5 Actors of 2010 chart as they have each scored their second win for "Coolest Lead Actor" this year. Check out the chart below.
